This is great news coming for the people of Northern Ireland. Rory Mcllroy of Northern Ireland was just nine under par only after two rounds at the recent US PGA tour. He was only one shot ahead of Australia’s Jason Day who was at 65 and America’s Jim Furyk who was at 68. Rory who was at 67 and 9 under par lead the race to hopefully win this edition!
US golfers Rickie Fowler who was at 66, Ryan Palmer who was at 70 and Finn Mikko Ilonen at 68 were just a shot further back on seven under par and only one ahead of Phil Mickelson who ended the day at 67. While England's Lee Westwood was four shots off the top after a one-over 72.
The famous four time world champion Tiger Woods missed out the cut, but it is only his fourth instance in a major as a professional golfer, after he had been struggling to a second round score of 74 for six over par overall. This has not come off really well with all his fans that had been waiting to see him finally make a comeback this season. The new star Austrian Bernd Weinberger achieved his second successive 68 for a share of sixth position with five-time major champion Mickelson, who eagled the last shot for a brilliant 67.
Rory , who has carded 12 successive sub-par scores till now, said, "I didn't get off to the best of starts but I righted the ship well, caught fire a little bit round the turn and am really happy with four under par," who has carded 12 successive sub-par scores.
