This week the LPGA is entering in the famous and prestigious ShopRite LPGA Classic. Millions of fans, all over the world are excited and hardly waiting to see young golfers and their battle. The most important is, who will win No.1 in the Race to the CME Globe. In the next 8 tournaments we will be able to see 3 major championships. The situation is similar in the PGA. They will have 9 evens, two of them are majors.
It is always interesting to compare the LPGA and PGA Tour. Dustin Johnson, PGA Tour Driving Distance, has 45 yards more than Brittany Lincicome, the LPGA leader. This statistic is averaged on courses that are 600 yards or longer. But, The LPGA is much better in accuracy. Only once, in 2008, a PGA golfer was better that the LPGA leader. It was Olin Brown with 80.4%. In 2000 Tiger Woods hit 75.2% in Greens and Regulations and set a new PGA record.
In 2012, Stacy Lewis won the ShopRite LPGA Classic (4 strokes). Last year, she won by the 6 strokes and she was No.1 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings. This success breaks the Inbee Park’s hold on that position. Because of this we can say that this is the perfect place where Stacy Lewis can manage one more victory. You must know that she was without a victory 11 months. Since June, 2014, when she won the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, she only recorded 5 runner-up finishes. Lewis has the highest number of rounds in the 60s (20/40), she leads the LPGA (69.53 average). She is also second in birdies (178) and putting (28.33 per round).
